Prague

Having been here for a couple days, I can say that this little corner of Eastern Europe has been 100% “discovered.” It’s about as far from undiscovered as it’s possible to get.

What is it that attracts the flood of Eurotripping teenagers? Maybe things like this:

Nevertheless, Prague is a beautiful place, probably the most architecturally pleasing city that I’ve visited on this trip (aside from Paris).

The old town is full of winding, cobblestoned streets. Sure, you rarely see them because they’re covered wall-to-wall in tourists, but still.

Prague Castle is one of the largest in the world. The stained glass windows in the cathedral:

Something I often do in big cities is tag along with a tour group. I found one in Prague that turned into a hilarious situation. This picture is a little hard to make out, but the tour guide is standing on the upper left. She has a shrill voice and is basically shouting. The group is about to mutiny. Then, look at the middle bottom right - see the homeless guy chilling at the fence? He wandered up, chugged his beer, and started to dance - well, dance is a generous word - along with the tour guide’s spiel. She got more and more distracted, and eventually tried to joke, “So should we let him do the talking?” Someone shouted “YES.”

I busked in the old town. It was decent. The coins are worth less than euro coins, so it’s not ideal. But at this point, I’ve been looking forward to busking mostly just because it gives me a chance to play.

Loving the Czech food. The Czech beer is unbelievable.

After Prague, I’m officially done with my job as I continue into Eastern Europe. And as I’m moving east, things are getting rougher and cheaper… it’s about time!
